Skincare Layering Guide

Learn how to correctly use your skincare products

The one biggest mistake that everyone makes when it comes to finding success with their skincare routine is not following the correct order when it comes to layering on your beauty products. Knowing when and how to correctly use your skincare products can make a world of difference to your skin.

Here’s how:

Double cleansing with makeup remover and cleanser
The first step is to make sure that your skin is squeaky clean before you put any actives on it. The best way to do so is to use an oil-based makeup remover or micellar water, which is light enough to use on your eyes and face. Choose a good cleanser according to your skin type to ensure that any grime or makeup comes off.

Toner or essence
To balance your skin type’s pH level, use a toner or an astringent as the first step. You can always use a hydrating rose or lavender toner to nourish your skin inside out. The best part is that it smells divine. (give some more facts on Toner – like it helps in keeping the open pores tight etc …)

Serums
This is the fun part where you can play around with any serum that goes best with your skin type. You can add different actives to help your skin glow all day. You can always use multi-performance serums with a mix of different ingredients which help tighten, lighten and brighten your skin.

Eye Cream
After applying serum, one can move to eye cream. As the skin around the eyes is the thinnest, it's critical to use an eye cream that can target early signs of ageing.

Moisturizer
One of the most important steps is to moisturize your skin to lock everything in and be done for the day. Again, choosing the right moisturizer as per your skin type ensures the best results. A day cream with SPF helps to keep skin prepped and ready for the day, while a night cream helps to repair and replenish the skin at night.

Sunscreen
No healthy skincare routine is complete without a sunscreen. If your day cream doesn't offer SPF, make sure to apply a sunscreen after you apply a moisturizer. For a morning routine, sunscreen is always the last step. This helps the SPF to act as a shield against the harmful sun rays.

Here you have it! The correct order of using your skin care products so that they work effectively on your skin.
